Animal slots are fun, right? Fantasma have already delivered titles like Cloud Corsairs and Wicked Kitty, and now here's a lesser-seen animal on the slot gaming reels: the otter!

Fantasma Games delivers a cozy, aquatic adventure with Lucky Otter, a slot that centers around a charming, fishing-loving otter on a large grid. This game is visually lighthearted and uses the popular Avalanche (or cascading) feature, which allows winning symbols to be cleared for new ones to fall in their place. It features prizes collected in both directions and an escalating multiplier, making for a medium-high volatility game that I find has a consistently rewarding feel.

How to Play Lucky Otter

Lucky Otter is played on a large 5×6 grid and features a unique Both Ways collection system, meaning prize combinations can be collected from left to right and from right to left. After you choose your play value, press the spin button to start the Avalanches. The symbols are brightly colored fish and playing card ranks. Whenever a prize is collected, those winning symbols vanish and new ones cascade down. The Wild symbol is represented by the otter himself, and keeping an eye out for the Oyster Scatter symbols is essential for triggering the bonus game.

Gameplay and Bonuses

The game has several great features that revolve around the cascading wins. The main feature is the Increasing Multiplier, which starts at x1 at the beginning of each play and increases by +1 after every successful cascading win sequence. The multiplier resets after a non-winning drop, but it definitely adds excitement during long collection streaks! Additionally, the Otter Goes Wild feature can randomly turn symbols into Wilds during Avalanches, helping keep that collection streak going. Finally, landing three or more Oyster Scatters awards you the Free Spins bonus, where you receive up to 20 bonus plays and maximize your prize potential.

Our Verdict

Lucky Otter is a thoroughly enjoyable slot that offers a great blend of frequent action and decent prize potential. The Both Ways collection, combined with the cascading action, means collections happen often, and the increasing multiplier adds a thrilling element to any lucky streak. Since the volatility is medium-high, I recommend having a little patience, but the unique feel of the game and the charming theme make it worth sticking with. I certainly enjoyed this game more than a lot of similar titles.
