Gameplay and Bonuses

The base game maintains an incredibly high pace thanks to the cascading reels mechanic. Whenever you land a winning cluster, those successful symbols are removed from the board in a flash of light. New symbols tumble down from the top to fill the gaps, potentially creating new winning clusters instantly. This chain reaction continues until no new combinations appear, allowing you to string together multiple rewards from a single play.

Booming Games has also added a few surprises to the dancefloor. On any random spin or cascade, Spotlight Wilds can trigger. A spotlight sweeps across the grid, adding multiple Wild symbols to random positions to drastically boost your chances of forming a connection. Additionally, keep an eye out for Colossal Symbols. These massive icons can drop in sizes of 2x2 or 3x3, guaranteeing a significant portion of a cluster right from the start.

The real show begins with the Free Spins feature, activated by landing four or more Scatter symbols during a single spin or cascade sequence. This awards you with eight free spins and introduces an unlimited win multiplier to the mix. The multiplier starts at x1 and increases by +1 after every successful cascading reaction. Since there is no cap on how high this multiplier can grow, a long string of tumbles can lead to incredible potential. You can also retrigger the feature by landing additional Scatters, extending your time on the dancefloor. Some versions of the game offer an option to play the feature directly, allowing you to bypass the base game and head straight to the unlimited multiplier action.

Our Verdict

Boogie Boom is a masterclass in how to combine an engaging, retro theme with modern, highly volatile mechanics. Booming Games has done a stellar job of capturing the essence of a 1970s discotheque, complete with a funky soundtrack and glowing visuals. The cluster rewarding system paired with cascading symbols ensures that the base game is constantly moving, while the random Spotlight Wilds and Colossal Symbols prevent the action from ever feeling repetitive. The Free Spins round is undeniably the star of the show, as the unlimited increasing multiplier provides a clear path toward the x4,000 maximum win. If you enjoy grid games with chain reaction potential and a fantastic atmosphere, this title is highly recommended.
