How to Play 5 Wild Buffalo 2

This slot uses a ways-to-win system with 1,024 different paths to victory across its 5x4 grid. Rather than fixed winning lines, you need to match three or more identical symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left side. The symbol collection includes lower-value card ranks (10 through Ace) decorated in Western styling, while the premium symbols showcase the wildlife of the American plains. The horse, eagle, cougar, wolf, and bear offer mid-range returns, but the buffalo stands as the top regular symbol with the potential for massive stacked multipliers.

Wild rock formation symbols substitute for any regular symbol to help complete winning combinations, though they won't replace the scatter skull symbols that unlock free spins. What makes this slot stand out is the Buffalo Thunder feature where landing four buffalo symbols vertically on any single reel causes them to merge into one giant symbol carrying a multiplier between 5x and 10x. The Golden Buffalo symbols add another layer, always arriving as complete 4-high stacks with guaranteed 10x multipliers and triggering one of three special modifiers.

Above the reels sit five Fortune prizes, each connected to its corresponding reel. Diamond symbols can land attached to any regular symbol, and when they do, they boost the Fortune prize value for that specific reel. Collect enough diamonds and you might trigger the Fortune Wheel spin for an instant prize.

Gameplay and Bonuses

The Boosting Fortunes system forms the backbone of the bonus structure. Five Fortune prizes start at set values (Mini at 8x, Big at 12x, Super at 100x, Mega at 300x, and Ultra at 1,000x) but climb as you collect colored diamond symbols matching each prize. The Fortune Wheel can trigger randomly when one or more diamonds land, awarding one of the current prize values before it resets. This creates an ongoing progression system where watching those prizes grow adds anticipation to every spin.

Golden Buffalo stacks appear exclusively in the base game through three distinct modifiers. The Golden Buffalo Summon places between one and four full golden stacks directly onto the reels. The Golden Buffalo Shuffle activates after the spin completes, moving golden stacks to different positions to create or improve winning combinations. The Golden Buffalo Nudge pushes partially visible golden stacks into full view. Each golden stack carries a fixed 10x multiplier and counts as regular buffalo symbols for Thunder combinations.

Landing three, four, or five skull scatter symbols triggers 8, 15, or 25 free spins respectively. During this bonus round, wild symbols expand to cover entire reels and carry random multipliers from 6x to 12x. A guaranteed Golden Buffalo stack appears and moves to different reels with each spin, creating consistent opportunities for multiplied wins. Every wild that lands during free spins also increases a Fortune prize, and any diamond symbol immediately triggers the Fortune Wheel rather than just having a chance. Retriggers are possible by landing additional scatters, awarding 4, 8, 15, or 25 extra spins.

For those wanting direct access, the play the feature options include purchasing free spins for 65x your play amount or buying a single guaranteed Buffalo Thunder win for 100x. The Power Play option adds 25% to your spin cost but increases the likelihood of triggering free spins naturally.

Our Verdict

5 Wild Buffalo 2 sits in an interesting position as a sequel that enhances rather than revolutionizes. The Golden Buffalo additions genuinely improve the base game by injecting random excitement between free spins sessions. Those three modifiers (Summon, Shuffle, Nudge) keep the reels dynamic and prevent the lulls that high volatility slots sometimes suffer. The Buffalo Thunder merges with multipliers reaching 10x create satisfying visual moments when those stacked symbols align.

The 1,024 ways to win structure keeps combinations flowing despite the high volatility rating, and the 96.01% RTP avoids the disappointingly low returns some recent releases have featured. The Fortune prizes system adds visible progression – watching those values climb from diamonds creates tangible goals beyond just waiting for free spins. The Golden Buffalo roaming during the bonus round ensures nearly every free spin delivers some action rather than dead spins.

What holds this back slightly is that base game symbol values remain notably low. Even five-of-a-kind buffalo only wins 0.25x without multipliers, meaning you're heavily dependent on those Thunder stacks or Golden Buffalo appearances for meaningful wins. The sequel doesn't stray far from the original's template either – if you weren't drawn to the first version, the additions here probably won't change your mind. That said, for fans of the original or anyone who appreciates Western wildlife themes with solid mathematical design, the enhancements make this the definitive version to play.
