288 is one of the most popular Chinese-themed slots here at PlayFame, and after you read our review you're gonna understand exactly why!

Revolver Gaming delivers a high-octane Chinese fortune experience with 288 Coins, a slot that throws out the standard reel setup in favor of something much more dramatic. The game's structure, which features 288 ways to collect prizes, is inspired by the lucky number '8' and Chinese wealth symbols. As a high-volatility title, this game is built around chasing spectacular moments, especially the unique Stack Add Feature and a super-rich Free Spins bonus. I found this game engaging for its visual flair and innovative approach to stacking symbols.

How to Play 288

288 utilizes an unusual reel configuration that expands the traditional 5-reel setup: the columns are arranged in a 2×3×3×4×4 pattern, offering 288 ways to win. That's where the name comes from, just in case that wasn't clear. Prize collection requires matching identical symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the first reel. High-value symbols include artifacts and golden coins, while card ranks are the lower-value icons. The complexity is handled smoothly by the game engine, but the core mechanic relies on the Golden Wealth Jar Scatter symbol, which is necessary to unlock the main feature action.

Game Features

288 is dominated by two primary special features. The Stack Add Feature is a powerful random mechanic triggered when a full stack of any symbol appears on the first reel. When this happens, massive stacks of that same symbol are cast onto the remaining reels, making it highly probable to collect multiple winning combinations across the 288 ways. The second main feature is the Free Spins Bonus, triggered by landing three or more Golden Wealth Jar Scatters. Upon entering the bonus, all lower-value card symbols are removed, leaving only high-paying symbols on the reels for the duration of the spins, which dramatically increases prize potential. Landing three more Golden Wealth Jars during the round awards 8 re-triggering spins.

Our Verdict

I definitely think 288 is one of Revolver Gaming's most interesting titles thanks to the unusual reel layout and the added bonus of the Stack Add Feature. That moment when the first reel stacks and clones across the matrix is worth waiting for. Since the volatility is high, the base game can be quite challenging, but the Free Spins round compensates by stripping out the low-value symbols for maximum prize collection. If you enjoy unique structures and high-risk, high-reward hunting for stacked symbols, this is a title worth trying.
